Race Day!

Well, we made it. John came in with a respectable 2:19 and I made my goal of under 3 hrs with 2:58:24. That's 18min off my last time, so I'm feeling pretty good. I'm going to keep plugging away until I get it under 2:30 and then I'll start working on the marathon. But as for now, I did it! I'm so thrilled to have made it under 3.

Mom says that Grandpa isn't doing real well right now. He's back in the hospital and has lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. We definitely need to keep him in our prayers.

So yesterday was John's b-day, and I got him 2 Duran Duran cd's. (He's an "I love the 80's" kind of guy). One had a bonus DVD with a bunch of their music videos on it. He stuck that one in yesterday and the first video that started showing was NOT one that would have ever played on MTV or VH-1. Needless to say we skipped that one, and the next one was just fine. I took two of the boys to the dentist today and when I got back John told me that Jordan and Jared had stuck one of the Duran Duran cd's in the dvd player and the song didn't sound like one he recognized, so he went to investigate. Sure enough, they had stuck in the music video dvd and were watching the first video. John saw a bit more of it today than yesterday and said it wasn't a music video, it was soft porn (including frontal, topless nudity) pretending to be a music video. Both boys eyes were wide, and they turned to John and announced "We wanted to see Hungry Like a Wolf but this came on. It's not very good and we don't like it." That dvd disappeared very quickly, and won't be seeing the light of day again unless John or I put it in and can skip over that first video.

Steph, I just got a good look at that photo of the kids. Man, does Kaylee look like you! I can't believe she's growing up so much. How much does that just make you want to cry? And Payton is almost a miniature of her (though I think you can see Mike a little more in her than Kaylee). Is it just me, or does Logan look a little bit like Christopher in that photo?

Thanks mom. I'll let the dentist know. I swear that child is trying to kill herself. She managed to fall off her chair during Primary today and now has a big bump and a bruise near her hairline. I've got people asking me if she has an inner ear imbalance or needs glasses! I tell them no, she just needs to stop climbing on stuff.

Well the verdict is in. The second front tooth is going to be pulled on the 21st, since it hasn't tightened back up. You can see how it's hanging lower than the other teeth. Plus we did a head x-ray to check on her adult teeth and while they are fine, it looks like she might be missing 4 adult molars in back. Those 4 baby teeth already back there are not the healthiest (she has to get 2 cavities taken care of, one capped, and has already had 2 cavities filled in, all on the same 4 teeth). So we are going to have to keep them as long as possible and wait and see what happens. She may manage to do without since she has a small mouth and and may need the room for other teeth once she starts with her braces, I'm sure she'll need braces, but she may have to have the gaps filled by the dentist. We'll see how it goes.
